Dr. Henry Kissinger Visits Peking University, Attends Workshop with Faculty, Students

On Nov. 23, 2019, former U.S. Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger, accompanied by former President of Google Eric Schmidt, visited Peking University and had a workshop with faculty and students. President of Peking University Hao Ping, Vice President Wang Bo and Vice President and Academic Dean Gong Qihuang attended the workshop. Fu Ying, Chairperson of Tsinghua University Center for International Security and Strategy and former Vice Foreign Minister was also present at the university’s invitation. The workshop was chaired by Wang Jisi, Dean of Peking University International Strategy Research Institute and iGCU consultant, and participated by multiple members of the School of International Studies faculty.

Jia Qingguo, iGCU Executive Director and Professor of School of International Studies, Yuan Ming, iGCU Executive Director and Dean of Yenching Academy of Peking University, and Wang Dong, iGCU Executive Deputy Director and Associate Professor of School of International Studies also attended the workshop.

Dr. Kissinger thanked Peking University for their hospitality. He expressed his delight at meeting China national leaders both this year and this time last year. He felt honored to have visited China almost a hundred times over the past 50 years and witnessed with his own eyes the ground-breaking changes taking place in the country. Now times have changed. U.S.-China relations have become even more important. The two countries should enhance strategic communication and continue their exchanges and collaboration in various fields. Dr. Kissinger also emphasized, the sincere invitation from Peking University convinced him to visit Peking University every time he came to Beijing, because he was not lonely deeply attracted to the Chinese culture and civilization, but also enjoyed meeting and communicating with Peking University students.
