QIAN Chengdan, male, was born in 1949, and obtained the honorary Doctor of Letters at Coventry University (UK). He serves in Peking University as a professor and doctoral supervisor of History Department, a Boya Chair Professor and the Dean of Institute of Area Studies. Besides, he is a member of assessment panel of the National Social Science Fund, expert committee of China’s National Textbook Committee, Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education as well as Advisory Committee for Area Studies of Ministry of Education, and also the honorary Chairperson of China British History Association. He was once the initiator and member of the 4th to 6th Review Group for the Discipline of History of Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.
