LI Jianming

LI Jianming


LI Jianming, male, was born in June 1960 in Changde, Hunan Province. He was once selected as a Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education. In 2004, he was among the first candidates of the National New Century Millions of Talents Project, which was initiated by seven ministries and commissions, including the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. He previously taught at Xiangtan University, Nankai University and Peking University. He served as the Vice President and Secretary General, and later the President of the American History Research Association of China. He is now a professor of Department of History of Fudan University, and concurrently a member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of education, a member of the Evaluation Committee of the National Social Science Fund of China, and a Discipline Appraisal Group member of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. He is also an editorial board member of Journal of Historical Science, American Studies Quarterly, and World History. He is mainly engaged in the study of American history. His works include View from the Opposite Bank of the River, The Founding Era of the United States: 1585-1775, The cultivation and Skills of Historians, etc.
