​CHEN Shiyi

CHEN Shiyi, male, Han nationality, was born in October in 1956 and is a native of Tiantai, Zhejiang. He obtained a doctoral degree in Peking University. As an expert in fluid mechanics, he is an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, an academician of the World Academy of Sciences, a tenure chair professor at Peking University and the second president of Southern University of Science and Technology. He was also a deputy of Zhejiang province to the 12th National People’s Congress, the founding dean of College of Engineering of Peking University, the dean of Graduate School of Peking University, vice-president of Peking University and dean of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School.

As a founder of the lattice Boltzmann computational method, he made a series of contributions to the studies on fluid turbulence. As an expert specialized in fluid turbulence theory and the computation of fluid mechanics, he has delivered world-class discoveries in fluid turbulence field. He published more than 170 research papers, wrote three treatises, made more than 200 invited academic reports around the world and started and organized more than 20 international academic conferences.
