Prof. Jia Qingguo, Director of iGCU, commented on the Video Call between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Biden on March 18. During the video call, two leaders exchanged their viewpoints on several critical issues concerning China-U.S. relations, Russia-Ukraine conflicts, as well as other issues with respect to both parties’ national interest. Prof. Jia reckoned that the call was of great necessity and was meaningful to the two countries’ relationship.

Concerning Russia-Ukraine conflicts, Prof. Jia believed that President Xi’s response had comprehensively and objectively reflected Chinese perspectives on the issue. Quoted from Prof. Jia: “China would continue to uphold the UN Charter, respect the principles of international law, and stand against the use of force in solving conflicts.”

Prof. Jia further added that as two of the most influential countries in the world, it is of both China and the U.S. interests to contribute to maintain international peace. Thus, it is important for the two countries to first stabilize the bilateral relations and work with each other.
