The article of Prof. Zhu Feng (Dean of the School of International Studies at Nanjing University), "The U.S. must stop diluting One-China Principle" was published in China Daily on Aug. 16, 2022.
By quoting the Bible, Prof. Zhu criticized Pelosi (and the U.S. congressional delegation)'s visit to Taiwan as "an blatant example of bad fruit of the U.S. politics", and were in defiance of the commitments that the U.S. made in the Three Joint Communiques. He further pointed out that although the U.S. still claims to follow the One-China Principle, it actually has been increasingly challenging China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity by continuously interfering in China's domestic affairs like the Taiwan issue. He noted that by hollowing out the One-China Principle, the U.S. is now trying to tamper with the international rules accepted and advocated by the U.S. itself over the past 50 years in Sino-U.S. relations, which exposed the hypocrisy and selfishness of its hegemonism.
"The U.S. has repeatedly emphasized that it is committed to a rules-based international order. But the international order is not only based on multilateral rules, the norms established to manage bilateral ties also constitute an important part of the international order...U.S. politicians need to accept that the Taiwan question, which is at the core of Sino-US relations, is China's internal matter and respect the basic norms of bilateral ties. The U.S. should work with China and the international community to promote global development and prosperity, and safeguard global security."
