Prof. ZHU Feng (Professor of Int'l Relations at Nanjing University & iGCU Academic Committee Member) commented on the U.S. House Speaker Pelosi's visit to Taiwan and criticized the recklessness of the U.S.: "Pelosi's trip to TW is U.S. hypocrisy at its best".
"The U.S. emphasizes the importance of defending the so-called 'rules-based international order', but Pelosi's action contrarily, has blatantly violated the One-China Principle & the provisions of the 3 China-U.S. Joint Communiques. The visit itself is an abandonment of the rules."
"The White House reiterated that Pelosi's trip by no means represents U.S. policy/stance toward Taiwan, but with the 82-year-old Democratic heavyweight arriving in Taiwan, to a great extent, it has signalled U.S. Democratic Party's determination to 'fight' against China."
"Concerning the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and that the global economy is heading for recession, China and the United States as the two biggest economies should have enhanced cooperation and communications, and could have the bilateral ties strengthened. But disappointingly, the U.S. has been doing nothing but 'adding fuel to the fire', intensifying cross-strait tensions."
