According to people.com.cn (Hong Kong) on December 5 (Guo Xiaotong), sponsored by the Institute of Communication and Culture, Peking University, Research Center for Global Governance of Peking University, and Institute for International Strategic Studies, with the assistance of Department of Politics and Public Administration, the University of Hong Kong, The Mirror, and Asian Newsweek, the international workshop on “China-US Relations, Information Disclosure and Governance: Thoughts on the Hot Issues of China’s Internal Affairs and Foreign Policy” was held in Hong Kong.
The contents of this international workshop included the new factors brought about by the new media era to the development of China-U.S. relations, and what can China learn from the internationally popular principles and practices of transparent governance, and challenges and possibilities of cooperation between China and the U.S. on network security issues.
Participants in the workshop included 15 experts from Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas on relevant issues, who introduced international trends and challenges in information disclosure and media development and also shares the progress and achievements of information disclosure in China in their eyes. Professor Gong Wenxiang, Director of Institute of Communication and Culture, Peking University, said that in terms of information disclosure, China was making progress and improving from its previous point of view of “looking up” to its present point of view of the public. International practice is worthy of reference, but China also has its own characteristics. Through this seminar, Gong Wenxiang hoped to discuss with domestic and foreign experts on the impact and challenges of information disclosure on China and China-U.S. relations.
