The workshop titled "A strategic nexus: the Euro-Mediterranean Region and China", co-sponsored by iGCU and the Center for the Mediterranean Area Studies (CMAS) of Peking University, was held from May 24-26. More than 30 former officials, renowned experts and business representatives attended the event and had in-depth discussions on Politics, International Relations, Finance, Trade, Technology and Climate.
The third seminar, themed “Finance & Fintech in the development of the Euro-Med”, was chaired by Cristiana Falcone-Sorrell, CEO and Trustee of the JMCMRJ Sorrell Foundation. Speakers of this section included Prof. Liu Xiaolei, Professor of Finance and Accounting at Guanghua School of Management of Peking University; Min. Giovanni Tria, Professor of Political Economics at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Adviser of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, and former Italian Minister of Economy and Finance; and Prof. Andreas Kern, Associate Teaching Professor of McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University.
The fourth seminar focused on “The strategic role of Chinese trade in the new centrality of the Euro-Med”. Dr. Massimo Deandreis, General Manager of SRM - Economic Research Center of Intesa Sanpaolo Banking Group, delivered a keynote speech. More than ten former dignitaries, experts, scholars and business representatives attended the two seminars, discussing building an inter-regional strategic link among the Europe-Mediterranean region and China based on the two main themes of the conference.
