Prof. Jia Qingguo (Director of iGCU) was recently invited to deliver a keynote speech at an online forum hosted by the Global Cross-Strait Relations Research Association, themed "2023 Taiwan Strait: War or Peace?" Prof. Jia's address was published on the China Review News Agency's website in February 2023.

Prof. Jia reckons that it is unlikely a military conflict will ensue in the Taiwan Strait this year as it is evident to all that military conflicts would be in no parties' interests and would be disastrous for all. However, Prof. Jia believes that the risk of military conflict escalating due to unexpected events still could not be ruled out. Thus, it is important for all parties involved to stay vigilant and avoid the outbreak of an unwanted war.
