On September 10th, 2019, Professor Wang Dong was invited to attend the Fourth Jakarta Forum. Themed “China’s Development and a Shared Future between ASEAN and China: Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China”, the forum was held at the Jakarta ASEAN Secretariat by China’s Mission to ASEAN in conjunction with the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to ASEAN and The Habibie Centre, a prominent Indonesian think tank. This was the first time that the new building of the ASEAN Secretariat had welcomed Chinese diplomats and scholars. Huang Xilian, China’s Ambassador to ASEAN, and R. M. Michael Tene, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, delivered opening speeches respectively. Du Zhanyuan, President of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, was invited to attend the opening ceremony. Dr. Dino Patti Djalal, Indonesia’s former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia and Professor Wang Dong gave keynote speeches as an ASEAN and a Chinese scholar respectively, and conducted in-depth exchange and interaction with the audience.
