DA Wei

DA Wei, male, Deputy Director of Center for International Security and Strategy and Professor at School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University. Before September 2017, Da Wei had worked at China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), a leading think tank in Beijing for more than two decades. His last position there is the director of the Institute of American Studies (2013-2017), with his research interests in China-US relations, US politics, and US diplomatic and security policies. He has written hundreds of reports and undertaken more than ten ministerial-level research projects, as well as published dozens of papers in both English and Chinese on major academic journals both at home and abroad and served as a member of the Editorial Board of several academic journals. DA obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Laws at University of International Relations, and his PhD in Laws at CICIR. From 2006 to 2009, he was the senior visiting scholar to the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University. DA has written and edited works including Who is Chinese: Eliminating Misunderstanding and Gathering Identification,What’s Wrong with Negative Liberty, etc., and published articles including Approaches to Building a New Type of Major Power Relationship between China and the US, An Early Assessment of the Trump Administration’s China Policy: Certainty and Uncertainty, and Forming a China-US Strategic Consensus and Long-term Stable Framework Gearing to the Future on major journals such as World Economics and Politics, Contemporary International Relations, and American Studies.
