Professor Wang Dong Attends the 11th U.S.-China Political Party Leaders Dialogue

From November 18 to 19th, 2019, the 11th U.S.-China Political Party Leaders Dialogue was hosted in Beijing by the International Department, Central Committee of CPC. The theme of this dialogue is "U.S.-China Political Parties and U.S.-China Relations." Song Tao, Minister of the International Department, at Central Committee of CPC, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.

Fifty Chinese and foreign representatives attended this dialogue. Foreign representatives were from the U.S. Republican or Democratic parties, important think tanks and companies. Chinese representatives were from the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee and Ministry of Commerce.

Wang Dong, the Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding (iGCU) Executive Director and a full professor of the School of International Relations at Peking University, was invited to participate in the U.S.-China Political Party Leaders Dialogue and the China-US Entrepreneur Round table as a representative of scholars. He was also invited to give a speech at the Luncheon of the dialogue.

The U.S.-China Political Party Leaders Dialogue was launched in 2010. Until now, 11 sessions of this dialogue have been held to strengthen Sino-US party-to-party communication and promote the development of relations between the two countries.

This time, we had in-depth and candid dialogues on topics related to "the new development of the Chinese and U.S. political parties and the future strategic trends of the two countries" and "the respective diplomatic concepts of China and the United States and the future trend of China-US relations".

Wang Dong was invited to speak at the luncheon and the story-sharing session of "40 Years of Sino-US Relations and Me". He shared his experience of studying in the United States, teaching in American universities, and returning to teach in China. In addition, Wang Dong also shared Peking University's ongoing efforts to promote cultural exchanges between China and the United States, as in the example of the Samuel R. "Sandy"Berger Memorial Fellowship.

Samuel R. "Sandy" Berger Memorial Fellowship was entrusted by the Berger family to donate to the Peking University Foundation (U.S.) from the U.S. Sino-US Education Exchange Fund. This fellowship scholarship program was established at Peking University to commemorate the well-known national activist and former U.S. President Clinton National Security Advisor Mr. Samuel R. "Sandy" Berger. It is used to commend outstanding young people from China and the United States who are interested in promoting Sino-US cooperation and friendship.

On the 19th, the China-US Entrepreneurs Roundtable was held. Guo Yezhou, Deputy Minister of the International Department, Central Committee of CPC, gave a keynote speech. Wang Dong participated in the meeting as a representative of scholars.
