On November 17, 2025, a delegation from the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University visited the School of International Studies (SIS) at Peking University (PKU) for a roundtable discussion on China-US relations, regional governance, and international cooperation.
The dialogue brought together distinguished scholars from both institutions. The Chinese delegation comprised Professor Jia Qingguo, Standing Committee Member of the CPPCC National Committee and Director of the Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding (iGCU); Professor Zha Daojiong; Associate Professor Chen Shaofeng; and Assistant Professor Xu Qinyi.
The RSIS delegation, led by Dean Kumar Ramakrishna, included among its members Assistant Professor Benjamin Ho (China Programme), Senior Fellow Jane Chan (Maritime Security), Associate Research Fellow Kevin Chen (US Programme), Associate Research Fellow Chong Dexian (Maritime Security), and Research Fellow Faizal bin Abdul Rahman (Regional Security Architecture).
In their opening remarks, Professors Jia and Ramakrishna highlighted the enduring partnership between the two institutes. They also emphasized the need for sustained academic exchange to foster strategic trust and regional stability, amid current challenges to the international system.
During the session, experts from both institutions engaged in constructive discussions on various topics: "Current US-China Relations," "Regional Cooperation," and "Global Governance." They reaffirmed the importance of open regionalism and multilateralism, agreeing to deepen pragmatic cooperation in regional security and sustainable development.
This event is part of an ongoing series of dialogues jointly organized by PKU’s iGCU and RSIS to explore effective pathways for addressing global challenges.
