On January 12–13, 2026, Peking University and the Royal United Services Institute jointly organized a two-day “UK–China Think Tank Dialogue on Cybersecurity 2026.” The event brought together experts from Chinese and British universities, research institutes, and industry, including Beihang University, Beijing Normal University, University College London, University of Portsmouth, and representatives from firms such as A&O Shearman, RELX, and LexisNexis Risk Solutions. Discussions focused broadly on the evolving cybersecurity landscape, including ransomware threats, countermeasures, and challenges posed by transnational cybercrime.
The dialogue served as a platform to strengthen communication and institutionalize cooperation between Chinese and UK think tanks in cybersecurity governance and research exchange. It followed the inaugural UK–China Think Tank Dialogue on Cyber Security held on March 6–7, 2025—also jointly hosted by the two institutions—marking the first in-person engagement and laying the groundwork for sustained academic collaboration and policy dialogue amid global geopolitical uncertainty.
