From July 8 to 10, Professor Wang Dong was invited to attend the Horasis Asia Meeting. He served as the co-chair of the conference and delivered a speech at the closing plenary session.

In his speech, he called for a regional cooperation framework that emphasizes complementarity and win-win cooperation rather than mutual exclusion and opposition, so as to not only enhance Asia's collective voice in global governance but also not close the door to cooperation with partners outside the region.

From July 8 to 10, the 2026 Horasis Asia Meeting was held in Hengqin and Macao. More than 200 business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, experts, scholars and representatives of the business community from around the world gathered in Hengqin and Macao for in-depth discussions on innovation-driven development, high-quality development and international cooperation. They explored new opportunities arising from the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and new drivers of global economic growth brought about by China’s high-standard opening up.

Frank-Jürgen Richter, chairman of Horasis; Carlos Cid Alvares, chief executive officer of Banco Nacional Ultramarino; Xiang Bing, founding dean of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business; and Wang Huiyao, founder of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), among others, attended the meeting.

Wang Dong, a professor at Peking University’s School of International Studies and executive director of the Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding at Peking University, was invited to attend the meeting as a Co-Chair and spoke at the closing plenary session. In his remarks, he called for regional cooperation frameworks to place greater emphasis on complementarity and mutual benefit rather than exclusion and confrontation, so as to strengthen Asia’s collective voice in global governance while keeping the door open to cooperation with partners beyond the region.

Anson Chan, Chairman of Bonds Group Company Limited; Sheikh Abdulla Zayed bin Saqr Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abdulla Bin Zayed Investment Group of the United Arab Emirates; and Bao Xingting, Executive Director of the Asia Business Council, among other guests, also spoke at the session. The closing plenary was moderated by Alejandro Reyes, a senior research fellow at the University of Hong Kong.
