The article by Prof. Zhang Baijia (Former Deputy Director of the Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee; Senior Advisor of iGCU) was recently published on‘Lilun Zhoukan’ (《理论周刊》)of Daily Beijing.
Prof. Zhang first reviews the history of China’s interaction with the world from ancient times to the present, providing a detailed analysis of the impacts of internal and external factors affecting China’s development. He believes that the 21st century will not be a replica of the 20th century and that the world will become multi-polar.
The issue of globalization, particularly concerning how globalization has created new series of problems and brought new uncertainties to the world while facilitating global development, is further discussed in the article.Prof. Zhang indicates that China’s active promotion of green development and sustainable development, as well as the strategy of ‘dual circulation’ that it adopts, have proven that China is a responsible powerwilling to contribute to common prosperity;isready to cooperate with countries worldwide, and isunwillingto decouple from the world.
Quoting Prof. Zhang, “The peaceful development of the world relieson cooperation among countries, although competition is inevitable. We hope that the competitions between nations are‘rules-based’and‘order-based’, and more importantly, that there will be cooperation along with competition. For the resolutions to many global problems nowadays, power struggles between nations would only aggravate the existing conflicts.Instead, the cooperation between major powers, and the cooperation of all countries in the world,is increasingly indispensable for the peaceful development of the world.”
