In an exclusive interview with Beijing Review, Wang Dong, Professor at the School of International Studies, Peking University, commented on US President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to China, which has drawn global attention to the "Beijing moment" of China‑US relations. Professor Wang noted that, compared with the China‑US summit between the two heads of state in Busan last year, the most striking change during this Beijing meeting is the more pragmatic and urgent attitude of the US side.

The era when the United States unilaterally dominated and held all bargaining chips is gone forever. China‑US relations are shifting from a one‑sided pressure‑and‑response model to a more balanced and equal structure based on mutual needs. Both sides have realized that dialogue must be equal and consensus must be mutually beneficial, which marks a significant return to rationality in coordination between major countries.
