On October 24th, 2014, John Lenhart, General Representative of U.S.-China Business Council in Beijing visited School of International Studies with his company, and held a seminar with us on China-U.S. economics and trade relations in Block A108 from 3pm to 4:30pm. Professor Jia Qingguo, Dean of School of International Studies, Peking University and Director of Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding (formerly known as Institute for China-US People-to-People Exchange), presided over the seminar. Deputy Director Wang Dong and Jie Dalei, teachers and doctoral students of the School of International Studies, participated in the seminar. Several senior executives of the U.S. enterprises in China accompanied Mr. John Lenhart during his visit.
Professor Jia Qingguo first introduced his visit with the 45th panel of experts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the U.S. earlier and elaborated on China’s positive efforts in improving foreign investment environment, network security, anti-monopoly, and intellectual property protection. Mr. John Lenhart briefly introduced the main contents of the Business Environment in China 2014 published by the U.S.-China Business Council recently. According to Mr. Lenhart, most U.S. enterprises in China have faith in the development prospects of the Chinese market and are making more annual earnings; they will actively make investments and expand the Chinese markets. Later on, the accompanying senior executives introduced the actual operations of their companies and stated that they welcome and are willing to participate in the further economic reform of China, and expect to realize a win-win in China-U.S. economics and trade relations through joint efforts. At the end of the seminar, Dean Jia Qingguo stated that China’s business and investment environments will keep improving as China further promotes and deepens reform and opening up, and that China will continue to welcome foreign-owned enterprises, including the U.S. enterprises to invest in China. Mr. John Lenhart expressed his wish to strengthen future communication and cooperation between the U.S.-China Business Council and School of International Studies, Peking University.
