LIN Yifu (formerly known as Cheng-Yi Lin), male, Han Ethnicity, was born in October 1952 in Yilan County, Taiwan, China. He is a non-party member, and achieved his doctor’s degree in Economics at University of Chicago, and once studied as a postdoctoral research fellow at Economic Growth Center of Yale University. LIN is currently a professor of Peking University and a counsellor of the State Council, but he once served as the former Vice Chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Senior Vice President and chief economist of the World Bank. Now, he is a member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Director of the Economy Committee of the 13th National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Dean of Institute of New Structural Economics, Dean of Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development, as well as Honorary Dean of National School of Development at Peking University, Honorary Dean and Professor Emeritus at Institute of New Structural Economics, Shanghai University, member of the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th National Committee of the CPPCC, Deputy Director of the Economic Committee of the 10th National Committee of the CPPCC, representative of the 11th National People’s Congress, member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Director of Economic Committee of the 12th and 13th National Committee of the CPPCC.
