LIU Jieyi, male, was born in December 1957 in Beijing, obtaining his master’s degree at Beijing Foreign Studies University. LIU is a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and currently serves as a member of the 19th CPC Central Committee and Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. He used to be an Interpreter of the United Nations Office at Geneva and Counselor of the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations. He also served as the Director-General of the Department of Arms Control, the Department of International Organizations and Conferences and the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the former Assistant to the Foreign Minister, Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Red Cross Society of China, and Permanent Chinese Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations.
