MA Zhengang, born in 1940 in Shandong Province, achieved his bachelor’s degree at Department of English Language, Beijing Foreign Studies University. MA is currently Chairman of China National Committee of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific, Vice President of China Public Diplomacy Association, member of Foreign Policy Advisory Group and Public Diplomacy Advisory Panel, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, President of Beijing Society for Comparative International Studies, distinguished researcher of China Institute of International Studies and President of China Arms Control and Disarmament Association, etc. In addition, he also once served as the former member of the National Committee and Deputy Director of the Subcommittee of Foreign Affairs of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), distinguished researcher of China Institute of International Studies, Head of the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, former Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Bureau of the State Council, former Chinese Ambassador to the UK, Ambassador of the Central Leading Group for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Director of China Institute of International Studies, member of the 10th National Committee and Deputy Director of the Subcommittee of Foreign Affairs of the CPPCC.
