ZHAI Kun

ZHAI Kun, male, was born in 1972 in Jinan, Shandong Province, and obtained his PhD in International Relations at China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations. He serves in Peking University as the professor and doctoral supervisor of School of International Studies, Vice Dean of Institute of Area Studies, Director of Research Center for Global Connectivity of Institute of Ocean Research, Director of Research Center for ASEAN Countries and contract research fellow of Institute of International and Strategic Studies. Besides, he is the Deputy Director of Global Center for Mekong Studies (China Center), Vice Chairperson of China Society for Southeast Asian Studies, member of Advisory Group for International Cooperation on Development of China’s Ministry of Commerce, Director of China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, leading Chinese expert of ASEAN Regional Forum, Director of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, adjunct professor of National Academy of Governance, consulting expert of China Development Bank, China International Engineering Consulting Corporation and other companies, and editorial board member of the journal of Southeast Asian Studies. He once served as a member of Chinese expert group of Pan-Northern Gulf Economic Cooperation and a senior consultant of China-ASEAN Expo. He has been committed to the studies on global and China’s surrounding situation and regional cooperation at home and abroad. As the senior official of central think tank, he had led many internal research projects at central, national and provincial levels.
