ZHANG Xingang

ZHANG Xingang, male, was born in July in 1940 and is a native of Shenyang, Liaoning. He obtained a doctoral degree in philosophy (biomedical engineering) in Northwest University. He is a foreign member of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK, former president of City University of Hong Kong and chair professor at Peking University supported by Yeshi Luxun program. He was once the chairman of American Society of Biomedical Engineering, won the award of Legion of Honour issued by the French government and the award of Gold Bauhinia Star issued by the government of Hong Kong SAR. He was a member of the 10^th national committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, member of Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission of Hong Kong SAR, member of Innovation and Technology Advisory Commission of Hong Kong SAR. His main research field is biomedical engineering. He published more than 100 academic papers, lead the writing of two research treatises and owned a patent approved by the Canadian government. With a profound knowledge in the development history of both Chinese and Western societies, he is proficient in Chinese, English and French, and an active practitioner of the belief of integrating technology with culture in his academic pursuit and career development.
